About

A weekly roundup of global headlines and events, via experts, who happen to be women.
“We couldn’t find a female expert in that.” Raise your hand if you’ve heard that at a conference, panel, or speech. Wonder why men dominate on Sunday talk shows

and on substantive matters on the op-ed page? Every Friday, we put out a newsletter that highlights female expertise on what’s in the headlines.

Interruptrr is an outgrowth of Foreign Policy Interrupted, which was launched in 2014 by Elmira Bayrasli and Lauren Bohn. You can read more about the Fellowship Program, which Interruptrr is excited to continue, in collaboration with Bard College.

Okay, so what do you do?

Interrupt! The op-ed page. The manel. The media.

Interruptrr is focused on identifying, nourishing, and unleashing female expertise – in traditionally male dominated focus areas such as banking, cyber, defense, economics, engineering, entrepreneurship, finance, investing, national security, nuclear war, science, and technology.

There is no lack of initiatives and organizations raising awareness about and working towards gender equality. Interruptrr stands out in that it is focused one step beyond. For us, gender equality is important in its impact, not its representation. Women must and need to be included in conversations in order to increase perspectives, strategies, and solutions.
