There was a nice variety of terms this week (mainly people!), with no major concentration in any particular theme.

Newly Emerging Terms
- Joni... related to Joni Mitchell who's pulling her music from Spotify
- Flores... as in former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores who launched a discrimination law suit against various NFL teams and the NFL itself
- Nadal... Rafael Nadal just won his 21st Grand Slam, which is the most ever won in men's tennis. Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic are both tied at 20...
- Maus... as in the Pulitzer Prize-winning graphic novel about the Holocaust that was just banned by a school board in Tennessee
- Whoopi... as in Whoopi Goldberg who mistakenly said the Holocaust was not about race, has been suspended from her talk show for two weeks, and has apologized...
- Zucker... Jeff Zucker resigned as the President of CNN after a probe into a consensual relationship with his colleague that he hadn't disclosed.
- Rihanna... who announced she was pregnant this week
- groundhog... Groundhog's day was this week and Punxsutawney Phil predicted 6 more weeks of winter. Boo!
Biggest Increase in Usage from Previous Week
- Dolphins (~250%)... related to Brian Flores, mentioned above, who used to be the head coach of the Miami Dolphins
- Rogan (>220%)... As in Seth Rogan, the famous podcaster on Spotify who pushes the boundaries with controversial guests and misinformation. Other stars like Joni Mitchell and Neil Diamond are pulling out of Spotify in protest of Spotify's handling/support of such misinformation.
- Rafael (~175%)... As in tennis star Rafael Nadal (see above)
Most Used Terms
"Love" popped back on the list this week! Perhaps a precursor to Valentine's day coming up in two weeks?! And "Covid" actually dropped off, which has been a very rare occurrence in the past year!
Note that these "Most Used" terms tend to be used very broadly, in lots of contexts... vs. the other "Emerging" and "Biggest Usage Increase" terms which are, as you can tell, quite narrow and likely more meaningful/interesting.
