This week around 6700 issues came in…
No single topic stole the show this week! Sadly though, for the third week in a row, terms related to shootings in the US have popped into the top set-- ugh.
(Click on any of the terms to learn more about them and read newsletter issues they're in)
Newly Emerging Terms
- jubilee... Queen Elizabeth II has reigned for 70 years and is celebrating her Platinum Jubilee, the first ever in British monarch history!
- Tulsa...A gunman killed four people in a hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
- Mona... A man smeared cake on the bulletproof glass covering the Mona Lisa in the Louvre...and was then arrested
- Sheryl Sandberg... has announced that she'll be stepping down as chief operating officer of Facebook (now Meta) after 14 years

Biggest Increase in Usage from Previous Week
- verdict (~200%)... as in the verdict of the Johnny Depp - Amber Heard defamation trial
- hurricane (>125%)... double usage: the actual hurricane, Agatha, that made landfall in Mexico and JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Diamond's comments related to the economy and the (figurative) hurricane that he believes is coming
- platinum (~125%)... as in the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, see above
Most Used Terms
Note that these "Most Used" terms tend to be used very broadly, in lots of contexts... vs. the other "Emerging" and "Biggest Usage Increase" terms which are, as you can tell, quite narrow and likely more meaningful/interesting.
