Good day!
Normally we handpick newsletter issues by independent writers that provide new or unique perspectives... but our lead researcher/writer is on maternity leave so we are exploring newsletter content that isn't as time-intensive, like trending terms and some specifically-themed newsletters.
Thanks for sticking with us until our normal programming resumes! And sorry our regular weekly cadence has been a bit irregular lately.
(And If someone forwarded you this and you'd like to subscribe, you can do that here -- thanks!)
Here's what's trending this week in newsletters...enjoy!
This week over 7400 issues came in…
Of all the top words, the most relate to the the bow-and-arrow attack in Norway, followed by Steve Bannon's contempt of Congress and Jon Gruden (ex-head coach of the Raiders)...
(Click on any of the terms to learn more about them and read newsletter issues they're in)
Newly Emerging Terms
- Gruden... as in recently ousted Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden
- contempt... of Congress related to Steve Bannon and his refusal to appear
- bow and arrow... as in the bow-and-arrow attack in Norway
- ports... as in the trouble we're having with ports and supply chains
- Chappelle... as in Dave Chappelle and the controversy around his new Netflix special
Biggest Increase in Usage from Previous Week
- Shatner (>200%)... as in William Shatner and his trip to space
- Bannon (>200%)... as in Steve Bannon and his contempt of Congress
- Peoples (>200%)... as in Indigenous Peoples Day
- Raiders (>150%)... related to John Gruden and his comments
- Norway (>150%)... related to the bow-and-arrow attack
- Columbus (>150%)... as in Christopher Columbus
Most Used Terms
Interestingly, "covid "dropped off the top list for the first time (maybe that's a positive sign?)... and "experience" and "team" have joined the top words.
-
world
-
work
-
life
-
learn
-
experience
-
team
Note that these "Most Used" terms tend to be used very broadly, in lots of contexts... vs. the other "Emerging" and "Biggest Usage Increase" terms which are, as you can tell, quite narrow and likely more meaningful/interesting.
