This is narrowSCALE's roundup of some of the most interesting newsletter issues each week that might have flown under your radar. Take a skim through...

  • How the Passion Economy will disrupt media, education, and countless other industries (Part 1) (from Li’s Newsletter, by Li Jin on May 14, 2020). This is a read on the longer side (~8 minutes), but it’s a super thorough analysis of the Passion Economy. If you’re thinking: “The what?”, Li defines the Passion Economy as: “New digital platforms enable people to earn a livelihood in a way that highlights their individuality. These platforms give providers greater ability to build customer relationships, increased support in growing their businesses, and better tools for differentiating themselves from the competition. In the process, they’re fueling a new model of internet-powered entrepreneurship.” Think Anchor (platform for building/monetizing podcasts), Github Sponsors (platform for developers on open source projects to receive funding), Teachable (platform for creating/monetizing online classes), etc, which enable people to leverage and monetize their own, individual talents. If you’re interested in learning more about the Passion Economy, how disruptions happen, and why the Passion Economy has such potential for disrupting a good number of industries, this is a fantastic read.

  • 5 Ways Crypto is like early Visa. (from Bankless, by Ryan Sean Adams on May 21, 2020).  If you’ve ever been curious about the process to get people and businesses to move from cash to credit cards, this issue is fascinating. (Did you know that in the beginning some credit card transactions could take ~15 minutes?!?) And if you haven’t ever pondered how credit cards infiltrated our lives, then it’s even more eye opening of a read! Additionally, and adding to its relevance to the times, the issue highlights parallels in the credit card growth process (awareness, advertising, experiences, etc) to that of the growth of crypto currencies. You may think a bit differently about the possible futures of crypto currency after this...

  • Corporate Logos (from Mike’s Newsletter, by Mike Lewis on May 21, 2020). If you’re in need of a quick laugh, this issue of Mike’s Newsletter shares some fake corporate logos of famous brands that have been re-designed in the age of the coronavirus. They are amusing and fun -- and, (sadly?) quite relatable. If you’re short on time, just skip the rest (it’s a few short stories/links and images of the times, and then some coronavirus stats)...but the logos are definitely worth it.

Hope you enjoy the reads!
